Sukkot 5766

December 3rd, 2006
Did You Know?

When the first pilgrims gathered to give thanks to God for their first Fall Harvest, back in 1621, they celebrated Sukkot - and that eventually became the holiday of Thanksgiving in 1863.

This year as we celebrated the Sukkot (Festival of Booths) Adonai graciously provided four ushpizin (guests). He also provided the funds seemingly out of nowhere to build a large Sukkah to house everyone. My wife and I developed a plan to construct a Sukkah that we would be able to reuse year after year. Just as we finished the eight foot tall, ten by twelve Sukkah, the Festival and the rain closed in.

Thankfully our prayers were answered again as the rain held out long enough to complete construction and put up a rain tarp. After sounding the shofar, some prayers and liturgy, we enjoyed a wonderfully prepared kosher (of course) Turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. Here are a few pics though a bit late.

P.S. Christians please note, this is what the “manger” truly was before man morphed it into the pagan “nativity”. If you want to celebrate the birth of the Messiah, build a sukkah in your yard around October. Yeshua (Jesus) observed it… shouldn’t you? What did The Messiah never do? Christ’s Mass (Christmas). He also did not command or ask you to.
