Case For Conviction Contest
March 13th, 2005
It’s time for another book giveaway only this time nothing is being “given” away. This time, you are going to have to work for it! Officially this will be an essay contest. The title of the contest is Case for Conviction and this will be the subject matter for your essay. Your essay should be directed to non-believers or “light” believers. You are to write an essay that builds and explains your case for conviction. Think of it as your chance to tell that atheist exactly why they should come to Messiah. Another idea is to direct it to that person that may show up for church once a year at Christmas at the behest of a spouse (I’ve been that person). You may know someone that has fallen away and this could be your chance to pull them back to Him. This is the general idea of the essay. If you are unsure if your “case” fits the theme of the contest, please feel free to e-mail me for advice/input.
The goal is twofold. One is purely evangelism. The second goal is to compile the essays into a book and distribute it on this site. The books would be sold for no profit at all. Only printing costs and shipping will be in the cost as determine through CafePress.com My hope is that the books would make great witnessing tools. This is just in the idea stage and would be dropped if there are objections to this.
Your first step is to enter the contest by clicking here. This can be done in advance (now). Your next step is to write your article and then post it on the forums (forum registration is free). A seperate board will be set up to accomodate the essays.
Voting for the winner is to be done by the writers. Obviously, you will not be able to vote for your own essay. The deadline for completed, posted entries is May 13th. If that deadline needs moved back due to numerous entries, I will post any date changes. For now, this gives you two months to build your Case for Conviction.

Here’s what you’ll be writing to win:
Early Church History Library, 3 Volumes
Description: Add three classics to your biblical library. Eusebius’ Ecclesiastical History offers a comprehensive history of the first three centuries of the Christian church. Fine print: Submission of essay releases all copyright claims(as does all postings on this site… see privacy policy). You also grant permission for reprint of your essay by the owner and staff of 5twenty8.com only when accompanied by proper acknowledgement to the author. Gratuitous Shout-outs
There is lots of talk about Hugh Hewitt’s Blog. I wrote a review, and Jolly blogger decided to affirm that blogging is not the new Reformation. There is some disagreement as to whether Hewitt meant to say that blogging is the new Reformation or whethe…

Shane,
You may want to post some updated instructions about submission. I started a new thread with my entry, as there wasn’t another. Do you want each entry to be its own thread? Also, for the ease of the entrants, I suggest mentioning that the forum doesn’t accept HTML code.

I posted the article in your forum and on my site since it was very Evangelistic. Let me know if posting it on my site is a problem.
