Since You Do Not Believe me
November 21st, 2006I have given seminars and written articles about the paganism in nearly every
American/Christian holiday. I have also commented on the ridiculous whining
concerning how commercialism has taken “Christ” out of “Christmas”. (That is, using
terms such as Xmas and happy holidays.) Though I know that most Christians will
find it offensive; these are amazingly hypocritical. Simply put, typically the people
asserting these positions are the same people that will quote Romans 14 when
confronted with Sabbath keeping. I sincerely pray that each Christian using Romans
14 as cause for Sabbath disobedience can see the incredible irony and hypocrisy in
complaining; society does not care about Christmas.

Good pdf brother, though some of the thoughts of the evangelizing excuse probably need a bit of fleshing out.
Like I completely agree that believers should wisen up to Chanakuh, Purim, Pesach, Sukkot (and so forth) as evangelistic opportunities and to stop falling on their swords (so to speak) for the sake of certain days over others. But in that case, I also feel that not enough Christians are wisened up to the apostles’ writings much less than the Old Testament and can fall into some serious error in that respect as well. The error of denominationalism puts us severely fragmented from actual Jewish believers (a case very different from that in the 1st Century) and leaves us woefully short in that rich cultural pool. I think I’m rambling. Back to work. Shalom.

For me Christmas is not Christian at all, because it’s not biblical. It’s a make-over of some old pagan religion, originally. But for today, it’s a cultural traditional party. Actually, it’s a family thing. For me as a Christian, knowing this, i just celebrate the being with family, or being with friends or people that don’t have their family to b with. It’s a nice opportunity to work relationships and sharing the love of Christ.

I am astounded by your ignorance! The “X” in X-mas is not an attempt to take “christ” out of Christmas the “X” is an abbreviation for christ. The “X” comes from the Grek letters chi and rho which in the latin alphabet are represented as a “P” and an “X” and is the monogram of Jesus the Christ.
It always amazes me that we atheists seem to know more about christianity then most christians.
Try to study some before going off half cocked!
Your pal,

I think you missed the whole boat, Rudy. I am well aware of what SOME have made a “monogram” for Iesous Hristos in Greek or more accurately in Hebrew, Yeshua HaMashiach. Mashiach and Christos meaning Messiah or Anointed One.
I am not claiming the x in x-mas takes away or adds anything. I think stops at Latin and German have made terrible translational errors. My article clearly says that I think it is ridiculous; as is “christmas” itself.
I doesn’t amaze me that atheists know more about christianity that christians. (I keep telling christians that atheists and pagans know more than they do.) I wish it did amaze me.
Shalom. (Peace)
