The Root of all kinds of Evil
March 22nd, 2006I was watching Fox’s new show Unan1mous in my office this evening. One of the unwitting contestants on the show is a minister. I could go into the fact the SHE seems outside of my understanding of the Scriptural definition of someone in authority. I could go into how easily she was fooled by another contestant trying to win her vote by lying about having testicular cancer. (wise as serpents?) Actually, it only took about two minutes to be embarrassed by her representation of a leader of believers. The game show host announces that they would actually not be in a social experiment, but playing for 1.5 million dollars. The camera panned to the “minister” who stated that she was not the least bit excited about the money. “The Bible says that money is the root of all evil”, she confidently instructed the viewers. With all due respect, the Scriptures do not state this. This statement speaks volumes as to the state of the leadership today. We should be able to rely on our spiritual leaders.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some, by longing for it, have strayed from the belief, and pierced themselves through with many pains.

It is in fact, the love of money that is the root of all kinds of evil, not money itself.
